PAHO/WHO Guyana Country Office Receives Award for Excellence in Partnership
The Berbice Regional Health Authority (BRHA), in collaboration with the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company, presented awards to several health workers and agencies/organizations for their outstanding support during 2011 at the 9th Annual Award Ceremony held by the BRHA.

PAHO/WHO Country Office Receives Award for “Excellence in Partnership for National Week of Testing 2011”
 
The Ministry of Health, National AIDS Program Secretariat (NAPS) Guyana recognized the support provided by the PAHO/WHO Guyana country office during National Week of Testing which was observed 3 – 7 October 2011. The country office was presented with an award for Excellence in Partnership for National Week of Testing 2011 for the organization’s commitment in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Guyana at the Ministry of Health’s Sixth Annual Appreciation Ceremony. The event was held at the NAPS compound on 16 December 2011, where Dr. Rosalinda Hernandez, Advisor, FCH and HIV received the award on behalf of PAHO/WHO.
NAPS has accomplished tremendous success by testing forty two thousand four hundred persons (42,400), of which 52 % were female and 47.4% male. |

PAHO/WHO presents Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) Award to Region 3
|

The M aternal and Child Health (MCH)/Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) and Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV (PMTCT) Feedback Meeting was held at Cara Lodge 26-27 January 2012. In her opening remarks PAHO/WHO Country Representative, Dr. D. Beverley Barnett, said that PAHO/WHO, its sister UN agencies and other partners are ready to assist with the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the Guyana Maternal, Perinatal, Child, and Family Health Strategy 2011-2020. She also informed participants that the report on this meeting will provide additional and targeted guidance for our technical cooperation and strengthen collaboration for an integrated, right-based approach to maternal, newborn, child, and family health.
Dr. Barnett presented the EPI Award to Region 3 for the exemplary work done in 2011and for achieving over 90% vaccination coverage in 2011. |
