El Paso, TX, May 2, 2012 (PAHO/WHO) - As part of the celebration of World Press Freedom Day which will be hold this coming May 3, 2012 and in order to recognize the best journalism in the region of the United States-Mexico border, the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) U.S.-Mexico Border Office, invites journalists from both sides of the border to participate on the call to recognize the best journalism ethics which contribute to health and development of the region.
ABOUT THE CALL
The purpose of the call is to recognize the best journalism that have helped to emphasize the core values, welfare, quality of life and development of the border community, as well as focus on the common realities that are happening on the region. The journalism works may be in Spanish or English and must be submitted before August 3, 2012, also must have been published or broadcast between May 1, 2011 and May 3, 2012. The awards presentation will take place in September, 2012 during an awards ceremony. The categories for participation are: print media, radio, television and electronic media.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE
Individuals or teams who can participate in the four different categories: independent journalists, journalists from local media including TV channels, newspapers, online newspapers, blogs, radio and media within the universities. The three best journalistic works in each category will be notified during the month of August 2012 and authors will be invited to a special awards ceremony.
