Cd. Juárez, MX, February 06, 2012 (PAHO/WHO) –Ciudad Juarez has been affected by violence and one of the most affected zones is Colonia Riberas del Bravo, located just minutes away from the Valle de Juarez. This colonia lacks of many resources such as: schools, parks, and health centers, but thanks to the collaboration of the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) U.S.-Mexico Border Office and other institutions this will change.
The federal, state, and local government in collaboration with various institutions are engage to rescue Colonia Riberas del Bravo and last year with the help of seven ecoclubs where 128 kids and youngsters are working to protect the environment 3,000 trees were planted at the zone. These trees were donated by the Directorate of Parks and Gardens (Dirección de Parques y Jardines).
ABOUT AN ECOCLUB
An Ecoclub is an independent organization, directed and driven by the youth community. Promotes activities to improve the quality of life, contributes to the welfare of society, environmental preservation and a local sustainable development as well as training local leaders to identify, intervene and solve problems through active participation and involving the whole community: family, authorities, local and national organizations.
