8th Annual Vaccination Week in the Americas targets 42 million

Washington, D.C., April 21, 2010 (PAHO) — The United States-Mexico Border launch, a joint celebration of VWA and the United States’ National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW), will take place on April 26 in Las Cruces, New Mexico, near the U.S.-Mexico border. It will be attended by PAHO Deputy Director Dr. Jon Andrus as well as state and local leaders and national health officials, such as Dr. Melinda Wharton, Deputy Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases and New Mexico First Lady Barbara Richardson.
