PROJECT 3: PREVENTION OF NON-COMMUNICABLE DISEASES 


Goal Description:

To increase and improve the quality of healthy life years and to reduce the health disparities in the U.S.-Mexico Border Area, in accordance with the Healthy Border 2010 Agenda.

 

Purpose Description:  

To contribute to reduce non-communicable diseases and the risk factors associated with the diseases among the U.S.-Mexico Border population.

Objectives

 

Indicators

3.1 Guidance for policy and programs to prevent and control NCD along the U.S.-Mexico region.

 

Number of U.S.-Mexico Initiatives using the CARMEN framework

 

Partners in the U.S.-Mexico Diabetes Forum using the Regional Strategy for the prevention and control of NCD

 

Number of USMB initiatives that produce scientific information on the subject of overweight and obesity in children.

 

 

3.2 To improve the organization, management and delivery of health care service in diabetes in participating clinics.

 

Number of State and local health services supported to improve their delivery system for diabetes and NCDs including recruitment and retention policies for CHW's

 

 

Number of States and local health services supported in implementing the regional strategy on an integrated approach to prevention and control of NCDs, including diet and physical activities.

 

Number of State and local health services supported in implemeting the Pan Am Steps methodology

 

Diabetes Border project implemented and objectives met.
