Experts get together to plan a Strategic Plan for Road Safety

Cd. Juárez, MX, December 16, 2011 (PAHO/WHO) – Every year road accidents cause thousands of deaths worldwide, in 2009, 1.3 million people lost their lives in car accidents. The Pan American Health Organization/World  Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) U.S.-Mexico Border Office in collaboration with the Observatorio de Seguridad y Convivencia Ciudadana del Municipio Juárez are working to develop a strategic plan for road safety at a local level, using the Road Safety Mexican Initiative (IMESEVI, in Spanish). The meeting took place at the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juarez (UACJ) on December 16th 2011.
