Experts dialogue about lessons learned on gender violence prevention on the Paso del Norte Region

Cd. Juárez, MX, December 15, 2011 (PAHO/WHO) – The U.S.-Mexico border has been affected by violence acts during the past years and women have been one of the most affected groups. In an attempt to ease this damage the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) in collaboration with the National Commission to Prevent and Eradicate Violence against Women (CONAVIM, Spanish acronyms) and La Mesa de Mujeres from Ciudad Juárez held a workshop “Evidence and Lessons Learned on Gender Violence Prevention on the El Paso del Norte Region.” The workshop took place on Ciudad Juárez from December 5th to 7th, 2011. 

The workshop’s objective was to provide participants with practical and technical knowledge to strengthen the systematization of the already obtained knowledge by people and organizations that work on gender violence prevention on the U.S.-Mexico Border, as well as to disseminate those experiences on the region. 

The workshop had 20-hours duration where systematization techniques for a better practice and lessons learned on gender violence prevention interventions that were realized on Ciudad Juárez were practice.
