2011 U.S. National Infant Immunizations Week and Vaccination Week of the Americas (NII/VWA) events along the United States-Mexico Border region (April 23rd-30th, 2011)
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the U.S.-Mexico Border Health Commission
(USMBHC) and the Pan American Health Organization / World Health
Organization (PAHO/WHO) U.S.-Mexico Border Office joined the ten border
states in a community vaccine drive reaching millions of people with
over 60 events held simultaneously during the week of April 23rd to
30th, 2011 throughout the U.S.-Mexico border. Activities range from
public and recognition events, workshops, conferences to health fairs to
increase awareness of immunizing children 24 months and younger to
protect them from vaccine-preventable diseases and as a call to parents,
caregivers, community leaders, and healthcare providers to participate
in accomplishing this goal and to bring additional focus during National
Infant Immunization Week (NIIW)/Vaccination Week of the Americas (VWA)
to the United States-Mexico border region.
