2010 Texas-Mexico Immunization Comparison Tool

Recommended Immunization for Persons Aged 0-6 Years

The purpose of this tool is to be used as a reference for the 2010 immunization schedules of Texas and Mexico. It has been planned to reach health care providers from both sides of the Mexico-Texas Border, with the overall goal to assure adequate vaccination to all children.
It is not a guide to compare the biological agents used in the immunizations, nor an immunological study.

It is a tool to understand Texas and Mexico vaccination schedules and orient the health care provider about children and adolescents that initiate a vaccination schedule in one side of the border and continue it on the other side.

NOTES: There are currently 6 licensed combination vaccines in the US: Pediarix® (D T aP-IP V -HepB), Pentacel® (D T aP-IP V -Hib), COM V AX®    (HepB-Hib), T riHIBit® (D T aP- Hib), KinrixTM (D T aP-IP V) and ProQuad® (MMR-V).
1 There are currently 2 licensed rotavirus vaccines in the US: Rotarix® and RotaTeq®. Rotarix® requires 2 doses and RotaT eq® requires 3 doses to complete the series.
2 There are currently 3 licensed monovalent Hib vaccines in the US    (ActHIB®, PedvaxHIB® and Hiberix®) and 2 combination Hib vaccine (COM V AX®    (Hep B–Hib) and Pentacel® (D T aP-IP V -Hib). ActHib® requires 4 doses and PedvaxHIB® requires 3 doses to complete the series. Hiberix® is not licensed for use at ages 2, 4 or 6 months of age, but can be used as the final dose in children 12 months to 4 years of age. COM V AX® is  administered at 2 and 4 months of age with a final dose given at 12 months of age.
