PROJECT 4: ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS MISSION


Goal Description:

To increase and improve the quality of healthy life years and to reduce the health disparities in the U.S.-Mexico Border Area, in accordance with the Healthy Border 2010 and  2012 Agendas.

 

Purpose Description:  

Contribute to the improvement of health and well-being of the trans-Border population through the reduction of the environmental risks.

4.1 Facilitate communication and coordination among local governments and binational institutions to strengthened preparedness and response to the epidemics and pandemic influenza.

 

Number of counties with emergency plans with binational coordination

 

Number of simulations or simulations in coordination with binational institutions to test the applicability of the local emergency and disaster plans

 

 

4.2 Promote healthy environment initiatives on the local level, through binational and intersectoral collaboration and partnerships.

 

Number of strategies of reduction of cross border risks implemented with PAHO support.

 

Number of partners that support the Initiatives for Children's  Environmental Health promoted by PAHO

 

 

4.3 Promote priority environmental health aspects and information to the public on the importance of environmental protection and preservation.

 

Frequency of subjects of environmental health in the mass media related to PAHO's cooperation and number of initiatives with key sector institutions

 

Number of publications on lessons learned in emergency and disaster response
