On Tuesday, November 24, 2009 several persons from St. John and St. Mark braved inclement weather on last Sunday to participate in a health walk organized by the St. John/St. Mark Primary Healthcare Team.

The four-mile walk began at Alston George Park in Victoria and ended at Cuthbert Peters Park in Gouyave, where a short ceremony was held to commend the participants who completed the course. 

Health practitioners also encouraged participants to make physical exercise a regular practice. In addition, they were told to get others to also engage in physical activities which can be beneficial to one’s health.

A number of other public health-related events are planned for the St. John/St. Mark health district in the coming weeks and months.  

Since taking office in July of 2008, Prime Minister Tillman Thomas’ administration has been spearheading efforts aimed at revitalizing primary healthcare across the nation. It is one of the government’s strategies for improving and providing the best available healthcare to the citizenry.
