|Inaugural launch of the Nurse Cadet Programme, Anguilla|
The Ministry of Health and Social Development is aware of the worldwide shortage of nurses, and the need to provide the health care system with a cadre of qualified and competent nurses. To address this problem the Ministry invests heavily in its youth, and is poised and ready to launch its inaugural Nurse Cadet Programme which is a collaborative effort of the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School, Health Authority of Anguilla and the Ministry.
The programme is available to 2nd form students of Campus B and 3rd form students at Campus A of the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School. It will expose students to activities, life skills and practices of nursing in a clinical setting. The goal is to have well motivated, dedicated, disciplined, and caring young persons who show interest in nursing as a career and exhibit a positive attitude and aptitude to enter the nursing profession. The programme will run for six (6) months of each school year from September to February, at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
The Nurse Cadet Programme will play a significant role in shaping the future of nursing in Anguilla, while ensuring that in the future, Anguilla will have a pool of trained, qualified and competent nurses to carry out the roles, responsibilities and functions of nursing both in the public and private health sectors.
The launch of the programme will take place on Tuesday 14th September 2010 at 3:30pm, at the Teachers’ Resource Center. NAGICO, who is the sole sponsor of the programme, will be in attendance to witness the launch.
Through this medium, NAGICO Insurance is acknowledged and sincerely thanked for supporting the initiative and investing in our youth.
