The Health Information System though manual started in 2000, was not
formalized as the reservoir for data capture until 2004 by the Health
Authority of Anguilla. At that point reporting was made mandatory for all
departments.

Prior to that information was collected in large registers but not compiled
and presented into a readable format. Data capture starts from the time
patient enters the Health care facilities.

The present Information System for Anguilla is designed to collect and
analyze data based on set indicators or minimum data sets. This system
is mainly manual and spreads across both the primary and secondary
health care departments.
