During the week June 21-26, officials from the Ministry of Health, Grenada, including the Chief Medical Officer and Dr. Jessie Henry from the NIDCU held a workshop facilitated by Ms. Marlene Francis - PAHO consultant to review the current Tuberculosis(TB) Manual, using the Caribbean TB guidelines as a guide. |

Alcohol and Drug Abuse Course June 14 - 25 2010, held in Tobago
Two participants from Grenada Mental Health Services were recently given the opportunity to attend the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Course in Tobago.
Mr. Andrew Williams-Psychiatrist Nurse attended the Basic Course while Mr. Gary Cox of the Drug Rehabilitation Centre did the advance course.
All expense for the course was covered by PAHO. Both participants expressed satisfaction with the course and have given the commitment to continue working towards an improved service in Grenada

PERSONS IN CARRIACOU & PETITE MARTINIQUE TRAINED IN MASS CAUSUALTY MANAGEMENT
Hillsborough, Carriacou, June 28th, 2010. There is now a cadre of persons in Carriacou and Petite Martinique who can now adequately respond in the event of any disaster. A group of 27 has just participated in a six-day Ministry of Health workshop on mass casualty management. |

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, FRIDAY, JUNE 25, 2010. Bright smiles on the faces of happy mothers and “thank you” echoed at the Ministry of Health as some of the beneficiaries of the Ministry of Health’s Medical Assistance Programme (MAP) returned to show their appreciation.
Five parents and their children on Thursday, June 24, walked into the office of the Medical Social Worker, Ms. Sharon Davis, to express their gratitude to the Ministry for its medical assistance.

A one day session was held on Tuesday 15th June, 2010 with stakeholders of the Ministry of Health Grenada to look at “the application of health sector self assessment tool for Disaster Risk Factor”. The meeting was facilitated by Ms. Joyce Tomas STC from PAHO, on the second day Ms. Thomas held discussion with Mr. Benedict Peters of NADMA.
According to Mr. Charles – Health Disaster Coordinator – Ministry of Health the meeting was very enlightening and showed that the Ministry of Health has a lot of work to be done. However, he says they are up to the task.
