Purpose: In collaboration with the indigenous peoples themselves, to find realistic and sustainable solutions to the serious problems of poor health and substandard living conditions that are the reality of many of the indigenous peoples throughout the Region. Lines of work: National policies and international agreements, networks of interinstitutional and intersectoral collaboration; primary health care and intercultural approach to health; and information analysis, monitoring, and management. |

The social, political and economical conditions have a strong influence on health; these are the called social determinants of health. The context in which the different population groups evolve should be understood, as well, their culture and knowledge should be valued for the application of policies pursuing the decrement of inequities. |

The events made under the social determinants of health of the Indigenous peoples topics, evidence the need of going further both in conceptual frameworks and strategies that put into practice the holistic approach of health that these peoples propose. In this sense, the promotion of discussion forums is recommended in order to analyze the ongoing experiences prioritizing the voice of the Indigenous peoples.
