altNinety-six percent of the population of Condorcanqui and 29% of the population of Bagua, provinces in the Amazonas region of Peru, are members of the indigenous Aguajún and Wampis peoples. The public health system is faced with the challenge of providing quality health care to these groups, whose health indicators are below those of the general population. For example, 56% of children aged 6 to 9 in Condorcanqui suffer from chronic malnutrition and 37% in Bagua.
