A year ago, Cleotilde Acosta's four children were having problems sleeping and eating. “Before they received deworming treatment, they would wake up frightened in the middle of the night,” recalls this mother in Santa María del Carbón, an indigenous Pech community in the municipality of San Esteban, department of Olancho, Honduras. “Now their stomachs are better, they have healthy appetites, and the ones in school are learning to read,” she adds with a grateful smile.

Durante la Semana de la Vacunación, del 20 al 27 de abril, se realizará una campaña de desparasitación masiva contra geohelmintos (lombrices intestinales) en los municipios de San Esteban y Culmí, en el departamento de Olancho; Marcovia y El Triunfo en Choluteca, Dulce Nombre y Santa Rita en Copán; Comayagua en el departamento del mismo nombre.

Con una campaña de desparasitación contra geohelmintos (lombrices intestinales) en 7 municipios priorizados de los departamentos de Copán, Comayagua, Choluteca y Olancho, se inaugura  la Semana de la Vacunación en Honduras, actividad que se celebra de forma simultánea en toda la región de las Américas, desde hace 11 años.

The Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) in Honduras, with the support of the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and CBM, an international Christian development organization, conducted a training of trainers workshop on the implementation of WHO’s new Community-based Rehabilitation (CBR) Guidelines.
