Technical Cooperation Program between Uruguay and Chile

With the presence of national authorities, local mental health professionals and a delegation from Chile’s Ministry of Health, the first meeting of the technical cooperation program between the two countries was held in Montevideo, Uruguay. This program is supported by PAHO/WHO.

The participants discussed next year’s work, laying emphasis on legislation, mental health plans, primary healthcare policies, information systems, and mental health assessment. Both delegations agreed on the importance of this initiative for the development and scaling up of mental health services, primarily based on learning through the exchange of experiences and lessons learned when developing community-based models.
