Central America and the Dominican Republic: Virtual Course on Mental Health Services Management

As from 31 August 2009, a virtual course on mental health services management will be offered within the framework of a project of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) supported by Canada. It is addressed to 18 professionals from the seven Central American countries and the Dominican Republic.

The duration of the course is 150 hours (115 on-line and 35 in-class). It consists of a familiarization phase, four on-line modules and one week of face-to-face classes in Panama. At the end of the course, the students will have to present a project developing a mental health intervention strategy. Institutions promoting the course include the PAHO/WHO, the INSAM (Panama National Institute of Mental Health), the Autonomous University of Nicaragua in León (UNAM), and the Center for Mental Health and Addictions of Ontario-Canada (CAMH).
