XXVI Congress of the Latin American Psychiatric Association (APAL) in Mexico

The XXVI Congress of the Latin American Psychiatric Association (APAL) took place in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, from October 29 to November 2. The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO-WHO) was represented by Jorge Rodríguez, Principal Advisor on Mental Health, who made a presentation at the opening session of the event and later participated in the panel “The challenges of Latin American psychiatry and the heterogeneity of the political systems in the Region: Partnerships and Convergence”.

The opening session was chaired by José A. Córdoba, Secretary of Health of Mexico; Enrique Belfort, outgoing President of APAL; and Enrique Camarena, APAL’s President-elect. Also present were other Mexican national authorities and from the State of Jalisco.
