Peru: inter-agency consultation on the National Mental Health Plan

A meeting with the Reform Promotion Group -GIR- was convened within the context of an inter-agency consultation process organized to discuss the National Mental Health Plan and to design a roadmap to comprehensively and intersectorally address the problem of harmful use of alcohol and other psychoactive substances.

During the event, held at PAHO/WHO local headquarters in February, the National Mental Health Plan was approved, a task force was formed, and six areas were identified to be included in the above mentioned roadmap.

Representatives from the National Office for Mental Health, the National Institute of Mental Health Honorio Delgado-HideyoNoguchi, Víctor Larco Herrera Hospital, the National Institute of Health, the Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University, the Catholic University, the Peruvian Medical Association, and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) as well as other mental health expert professionals attended the meeting.
