Belmopan, April 25, 2009. The Ministry of Health of Belize informs the general public that it is aware of and is monitoring the Swine Flu outbreak in Mexico. The Ministry of Health will be stepping up its surveillance across the country in order to detect all influenza and suspected influenza cases. The public is advised that presently Belize has not detected Swine Flu. |

Belmopan, 01 March 2009 - The Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Belize Agricultural Health Authority (BAHA), PAHO/WHO, and the Caribbean Epidemiology Center (CAREC) is hosting a "Food Borne Diseases Surveillance Workshop" from 2nd to 6th, March 2009.
The Ministry of Health is the key regulatory partner in Belize's Food Safety program, with special focus on prevention and control of food borne diseases (FBD).
The objective of the workshop is to review the FBD surveillance internationally and in Belize including lessons learned and practical field exercises in food sampling. |

Belize City, April 28 2008 – Belize joined Mexico in a Health Caravan commemorating Vaccination Week in the Americas 2008 on Thursday April 24. This activity was initiated in the Corozal Free Zone on the Belize side of the Belize-Mexico border, and then proceeded to Chetumal, Quintana Roo, Mexico, on the other side of the border.
