Dr. Kuang Chi Liang is a key figure in malaria control efforts in Latin America. In the video, he speaks of his early work in the Provincial Malaria Research Institute of Taiwan, where he did control work. With funding from the Rockefeller Foundation, he studied a course in the United States. Upon his return to his native Taiwan, he became director of the Provincial Institute and led efforts to eradicate malaria.
In 1955 Kuan Chi Lian began his career in the World Health Organization (WHO) as member of the Expert Committee on malaria and two years later began working at the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO). He has worked in Trinidad, Venezuela, and Colombia.
