Singer-songwriter Ricardo Montaner will be honored as a PAHO Champion of the Health on February 23, 2011, at the headquarters of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) in Washington, DC (www.paho.org/champion). The Champion of Health award is given to artists and celebrities who support and promote health campaigns in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The award will be presented as part of a series of pre-launch activities for Vaccination Week in the Americas 2011.
Ricardo Montaner’s artistic career spans more than two decades, during which he has produced over 20 compositions, sold more than 25 million records, and won dozens of music awards.
Vaccination Week of the Americas, held each year, is an important PAHO/WHO initiative that begins on 23 April. More than 45 million children, adults and seniors will be vaccinated in the Region of the Americas.
