“Motherhood” exhibit visits National Autonomous University of Honduras at Tegucigalpa, Comayagua and Choluteca campuses

The Provost of the Autonomous National University of Honduras and the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization in Hondruas launched the “Motherhood” photo exhibit in two different places in the city of Comayagua, Honduras: the first at the Cultural House, during March 25-26, 2011, and the second on the university campus at the Regional University Center (CRUC), March 28-29, 2011. Both the mayor of the city, Carlos Miranda, and the municipality’s councilwoman, municipal Esperanza Cruz attended the launch.

At CRUC, the exhibit was visited by students and teachers of the university, who were invited to reflect on the university’s and students’ role in contributing to change the situation of women in Honduras.

The exhibition has generated a discussion in the university community about the leading role the students should assume in making this committment to their country. One young woman who is studying business said, “There are many stories like this in my country, but the university should play a more decisive role in the work that needs to be done.”
