PAHO Director meets with Canada’s Minister for International Cooperation to Discuss Technical Cooperation with the Organization

Mirta Roses and Beverly Oda met within the framework of the 51st Directing Council of PAHO, prior to their participation in a session that brings together the health ministers from the Americas to discuss health policy in the region.

Roses welcomed Oda, who visit PAHO for the first time, and thanked Canada for that country’s cooperation with the reconstruction of Haiti.

For her part, the Canadian minister said that “Canada is proud to work with PAHO in the Americas on projects aimed at reducing maternal mortality and severe morbidity among women, newborns and children.”

“We have many joint programs and can make a difference” in health in the countries of the region, said Oda.
