Mexico Affirms that PAHO’s Efforts Mark a Milestone for Development

In expressing his appreciation for the annual report of PAHO Director Dr. Mirta Roses, Mexico’s Minister of Health, Dr. Salomón Chertorivski Woldenberg, emphasized that “the efforts of the Organization are a true landmark for the development of all the countries of the Region.”

As noted in the report, progress toward achievement of the Millennium Development Goals has been uneven. “The presence of vulnerable population groups persists in all countries, and despite the efforts of PAHO and other United Nations agencies, these groups have not fully benefited,” the Mexican minister noted. He called on colleagues to “undertake a critical analysis of efforts underway and reaffirm our commitment to the lessons learned.”

“This report is an opportunity to learn what we need to do to achieve better results and improve the health of our Region.”
